Karen James was a delightful lady who passed away in December 2019 after a short illness. She was the lovely lady who at trials would notice the first timer or the person who was having a tricky trial and befriend them. I always used to laugh if I was judging or running as you would see the group of chairs around Karen’s car growing. When she passed away I was contacted by a number of people who didn’t know her name but when they saw her photo remembered sitting with her at a trial, or being made to feel welcome by her at their first trial.  She was a very knowledgeable dog owner and handled her dogs with great empathy. As much as she loved to get placed with them I think she was genuinely, as happy if they just tried for her. I miss her terribly and felt an annual celebration award would be a fitting memorial for her.
